Most people hate sharks. That hate may be disproportionate to its real life danger, but the truth is, water is not our natural element. Put us in the ocean and we are fairly helpless, and we fear that we do cannot control and what we do not know. And what we do know is that we do not like being on the other end of the menu for lunch. There is a difference between loving and common sense. People love to see tiger, pay money to watch it in a zoo/safari, but aren’t fool to go near it and hug it. Almost everyone would love to cuddle a tiger, but won’t do it, right? Similarly we all know Sharks are very important to the ocean eco system. Everyone is also greatly concerned of the extinction threat to the species. They love it and hence also try to do in their capacity to do as much to protect it. However we are also aware that its dangerous to play with Shark. For that matter, you’re more likely to be struck by lightning than even attacked by sharks. And yes, shark attacks are increasing, but that’s because more and more people visit beaches. Surfers and bathers wearing bright colors or shiny jewelry may also be at greater risk. And this, “Baby Shark” does not depict actual sharks. It is not realistic. Just as kids of another era could tell the difference between the Road Runner hurtling into a rock face, and real life, so can kids today tell the difference about a song with animation and actual sharks.
The repetitive lyrics are probably what makes it so annoying to adults. But children love repetition. A toddler or young child will want to hear the same story over and over, play the same game over and over over. When they enjoy something they want to do it again and again. When children understand the songs “formula” they also get excited that they can make their own lyrics. Old mcdonalds farm is a timeless classic children’s song for this reason. After going through all the farm animals you can add lions, seals and whatever else. This is something that makes children feel clever. The music is very happy and upbeat. Music is very mood altering. The music score from Jaws was engineered to create suspense and fear. I’m quite certain that baby shark was engineered to target children in a similar manner. There is a science to creating “ear worms” (songs that get stuck in your head) and theyve made the song catchy and addictive quite deliberately. That is because humans live near the coast, which is too shallow for a great white. The great white is huge, and one of their favourite foods is seals, which is rich in fat and live in colder areas. Humans are too skinny and doesnt taste good compare to the much nutritious normal deep sea fishes.
